Pear Cut Diamonds

This is a modification of the round brilliant and typically has 58 facets. The length to width ratio is more than in other fancy shapes down to personal taste as this cut can be used in all types of custom designed jewellery. As a centre diamond a pear shape that weighs over 0.5 carats is recommended. The “bow tie” effect (a slightly darker area in the shape of a bow tie) is inherent to the cut but should not be too visible if the angles of the cut are near optimum. Pear shapes with a dark “bow tie” effect should sell at significant discounts.
